På vei hjem bodde jeg en natt i Natal. I et billig, lite skur av et hotell nede ved stranden. På åsen ovenfor stod det en rekke flotte høyhus, hvor åpenbart mer velbemidlede brasilianere bor i helger og ferier.

Men det var nede ved skurene at folk smilte og lo.

On my way home I had to spend a night in Natal. I did so in a cheap shack of a hotel, down by the beach. On the hill above stood a row of condominiums, vacation and weekend homes for the well off.

But it was down by the shacks that people were smiling, laughing and dancing.
