"Jaha, to neshorn, greit", tenker du sikkert. Da vil jeg bare gjøre oppmerksom på at dette bildet er tatt uten zoom og uten noe som helst annet enn luft og noen fluer mellom meg og de to dyrene.

Historien bak er at jeg var på morgenvandring i Hlane nasjonalpark. Da går det en fyr med våpen foran, og det er veldig viktig at ingen går forbi ham, for da kan man bli påført skader av ville dyr. "Fint, jeg går bakerst, så er jeg tryggest", tenker man kanskje da. Det man kanskje ikke har tenkt nok på er hvordan man skal håndtere når de ville dyrene kommer bakfra. Slik denne nysgjerrige neshornbabyen med mamma gjorde.

Fem meters mellomrom til to enorme dyr med horn føles litt utilstrekkelig.

 

So you look at this and think "Hm, two rhinos, okay". If so, let me just mention that between me and these monsters there was only air and flies, and I did not use the zoom on my camera to take this photo.

This happened on a morning walk in Hlane National Park. On a walk in the wild there's obviously always a park ranger leading the way, usually armed in some way. The idea is that if something happens, the ranger will handle the situation so that the idiots behind him may survive. The only problem is when some animals decide to sneak up on you from behind, like this young rhino and his mother did.

Having only five metres between yourself and two naturally armed, wild and heavy animals may feel insufficient.
