We have arrived in Laayoune/Al Ayoun, the capital of Western Sahara, a country that doesn't exist, because Morocco has occupied it. The African Union supports West-Africa, which has led to Morocco being the only country in Africa that isn't a member of the African Union. What Morocco wants is access to rich deep-sea fishing off the coast of the country, and ownership of some phosphate mines inland. Apart from that, the whole country is just sand, gravel and square metres.

To qualify for the long-term rights to this part of the world, Morocco is moving people here from Morocco, so that eventually a "democratic" vote will be in its favour. Heavy tax benefits make people come here. Large plots of land, like this, have been prepared for building apartments for the new inhabitants.
