Methods for Data Mining

In this section we mention some of the most used approaches for data mining. We have chosen methods which all take uncertainty into account, because we will focus our attention on uncertainty in the rest of this report. First we discuss the Bayesian approach, based on formal probability theory. Then we look at ID3, a much used algorithm creating decision trees. Finally, we touch the Rough Sets methodology, which we investigate further in the next chapter.
