The katharrn is one of the more dangerous representatives of the animal life of the wild Underdark. Looking like a large, sleek cat of bluish-gray coloration, the katharrn (both singular and plural) looks like a tiger... but due to the nature of the weird radiations of the Underdark, possesses some of the characteristics of a spider, as well.

Though the katharrn doesn't automatically regard anyone wandering through its area as food, it isn't unheard of for some lone drow to suddenly feel a pair of large paws striking his back - and for noone else to ever again hear from that particular drow again.
