	 (As with the entangle, this should be a comic book type
	 grounding, i.e. it might be imersion in water, or being
	wrapped in copper wire. Standing on a metal floor would
	probably do it, but he would avoid that. Simply touching a
	grounded object shouldn't be enough to set this off. Of
	course, the end drain will eventually drain stun and then
	probably move on to body as well. )

Explanation of Powers:
======================
By using his electrical powers, he can stiffen the costume, but still retain flexability when and where needed. Also, he can "fly" by inducing currents in the metal harness and using the earths mag. field and nearby metal objects (or ores) to push off of. His boots are heavily insulated to keep his personal charge from leaking into the ground. (In normal attire, his shoes are specially constructed so that they carry charge to the ground. This avoids the worse of the sparking, though he still generally "tingles" people when he touches them, and is noticable in dim light.)
Background:
===========
Danial Freedman is the son of a well known, influential Bostan businessman. As such, he has had an easy life, and the perq's that come with a wealthy family. As an teenager, Danial's latent powers started to show. His hair, which had always been red, started to almost glow. He started to shock people when he touched them, erasing computer disks when he picked them up, etc. Finally, it developed to the point of active sparking from the more pointed parts of his body, fingers, nose, etc.

His parents were fairly understanding. While awkward, his powers were not destructive. Personality wise, he was not changed. Though there were some difficult times, mostly the open love of Danial was an asset in his father's business career.

Danial loved his new found powers. He was often the center of attention. He could do things that others couldn't. He found that it was easier to get girls (though he had to be careful not to hurt them, or others whom he touched). Being unusual and from a rich family, getting into college was easy, though he wasn't very interested in the work.

He moved in a different set than most of the other college kids. He always had money (from his father), he had a nice car and a good apartment. He didn't attend the college parties, more often going to the nightclubs and hanging out with a slightly older crowd. Plus, he wasn't worried about job prospects. He studied EE, but he knew he had a job waiting in his dad's company.

While in college, Danial found that his powers went beyond just parlor tricks. He could really do things. His EE studies, picked because they were related to his abilities, lead him to refine what he could do. Reading about the costumed heros then gave him the idea of becoming one. He didn't want to be just another manager, even one whose career would be easy and fast. Being a hero looked like the way to continue a fun life, use his powers, help people and beome known as someone other than just his father's sparky son.

So, he gave the idea some thought. He developed a costume of a tight fitting yellow body suit, black boots, and a thin, flexable metal harness. The harness runs in two strips over each shoulder, connecting to a belt at the waist, and a strip down each leg with bands and the ankles and thighs. The woven into the body suit are metal threads as well. With this outfit he sought fame, fortune and the adulation of thousands...

Possible Extensions and Campaign Use:
=====================================
I haven't built in all that could be implied from the description about. For example, when in costume, it is reasonable to assume that he has a damage shield (low powered NND attack, def. being insulated yourself, always on), but I haven't built it in.

Also, his sparking should make it hard for him to hide (esp. in dim light), but that isn't built in. (Perhaps, by letting the change environment be always on, but still variable, and let it be used to give a minimal amount of light, this can be assumed in the given points write-up.

Some GM's might find the Public ID with a blurred hero/ non-hero line and strong family ties unworkable. It is true that he is basically the same in hero and non-hero form, with the only difference being some powers that the costume gives him.

If in your campaign such a "vulnerable" hero would be a problem, don't use him. His father is already very vulnerable to threats, kidnapping (other children), etc. Having a hero son hasn't really made him any more so. And, while Danial is some- times bothered by villains using his family ties, his dad does have security men of his own.

Power upgrades might be fairly obvious. I hadn't thought much of them. The damage shield would be put on first. Then, maybe some skills and a level or two in his MP. Some extra defenses come to mind, but I don't really see how to do them.

Of course, he could always bulk up the costume for some extra armor, and maybe generate a small ED force field. On a more ambitious level, at range, electrical missile deflection and electrical absortion come to mind. And, the supress power could easily be beefed up a bit.

Kieran adds: Possible campaign possibilities include:

(1) Spoiled Millionaire brat who interferes with Heroes, and tries to steal the limelight. He may go so far as to stage crimes, or interfere with Heroes so he looks good.

(2) Dilettante villain who goes on wilding sprees with other gifted children of millionaires. They may attack Mommy's company or Daddy's lab. They may also be difficult to prosecute, and cause the heroes lots of problems by invoking their parent's influence.

(3) Confused, angst ridden teenager, who feels ostracized by his special powers. He is welcomed by villain group who value him for his "handicap". Heroes have to show him that he need not choose a life of crime to gain social acceptance. (Read any copy of X-men in the last three years.)
