Designers Notes:
Shi was a thoroughly nasty villainess that appeared in my old Champions campaign (The Justice Alliance). Originally a ninja assassin, she became a freelance hitman (woman?) after her clan was destroyed (Hands of Death II: Entrance of the Ninja).

My old campaign borrowed ideas from a number of sources, including 'GURPS IST' & 'Wildcards'. Thus there were no such things as mutants in my game, everyone possessed the genetic coding necessary to demonstrate 'super' powers, but only a small percentage of the population actually had an 'active' metagene. Thus, Shi was simply born with the ability to walk through walls.

The rest of Shi's origin I'll leave up to the GM. IN my game, she was originally intended to be almost a throw-away villain, appearing in the martial arts movie adventure 'Hands of Death'. Later, when Lung (Dragon), underworld ruler of New York's Chinatown needed someone to dispose of our heroes (The Justice Alliance), he hired Shi to do the job. The idea of a Japanese ninja assassin, masterless and without a clan, bound to fulfill her contracts, but wanting to die to atone for the shame of not avenging her lord, amused Lung greatly.

Shi succeeded in killing one of her targets (and NPC) and wounding one other, before being brought down by the team. Sent to prison in Japan, she eventually escaped during a power failure and returned to America to finish her original mission (as well as extract revenge on the Justice Alliance for capturing her). Then my game ended... (oh well).

Description:
Shi is of average height, with shoulder length black hair and dark eyes. She is in excellent physical shape and much stronger than she looks. When not on a mission, she usually dresses in casual Western dress.

When dressed for a mission, she will wear a traditional ninja 'night-suit', that is dark purple in color (the traditional color for a female ninja). The no-dachi is kept in a scabbard across the back.

Her tattoo is of an Eastern dragon, it's tail starting at the small of her back, traveling up the spine, across her shoulder and coiling around the right arm. It's head ends just inside her wrist, ensuring that it will be hidden by any long sleeve shirt she wears (standard prodecure for yakuza body tatoos). The dragon is a 'power' totem, lending its strength to her sword arm.

Shi went through a number of names in the game. Her initial name was Kami or 'spirit'. Later, she called herself (or was known as): Spiritwalker, Ki (loosly translates to 'spirit)' and Ghost. Shi, her final name, translates to 'death'.

Powers Notes:
Aside from traditional ninja skills and martial arts, Shi has the ability to walk through walls. She still appears perfectly solid while using this power, and uses this fact to her advantage when fighting. She will usually delay when in combat, switching on her desolid and allowing her opponent to strike first. She will then turn off her desolid, attack and then usually abort *back* to her desolid form, attempting to maximize her time in an invulnerable state. Shi will also dodge and block extensively, especially against slower opponents to try and confuse her target as to the true nature of her power. Even if desolid, she will duck and weave, making appear that she's dodged or blocked a blow that might have actually passed through her.

When in a desolid state, Shi is vulnerable to sonic or similar vibrationaly based attacks. She can also be affected by Ego based attacks and gases. Although her Desolid form appears solid, her true nature can be detected by spatial awareness, radar or sonar based senses. These senses will not pick up her mass, thus allowing one to know when she is insubstantial. Of course, if one can't see her, then one isn't able to tell where she is to confirm that she is. indeed desolid.

Her martial arts are pretty standard, taken from TUM.

A no-dachi is the Japanese greatsword. It is a two-handed weapon, wih a total length of about 5 feet. If needed, Shi will use shorted blades, including the katana, tachi of wakizashi. IJdidn't bother to buy this as a weapons pool, I just considered it SFX.

Her multi-power appeared late and was created to allow her to try and tackle a whole hero team single handedly. Depending on intended use, these powers are optional and can be dropped without really affecting effectiveness.

Disadvantages Notes: The assorted distinctive features and style diasdvantages come from Ninja Hero.

Aslan is a character from an old issue of Adventure's Club, which I adapted for my universe. Substitute whoever, or whatever character makes sense for your world.

Her psych lims reflect her now, unstable nature. She will taunt and harass an opponent, trying to get him to waste END charges firing attacks that won't effect her. Once he's run out of bullets, arrows, shuriken or chages, she'll move in for the kill. Once an opponent falls, she may or may not strike him again, to ensure he stays down. She will definetly sue her most dangerous attacks first and always strikes to kill. Over the Edge reperesnts her desire to die an honorable death in combat, meaning that if combat a worthy opponent, she might drop her use of desolid and fight this person directly, with no tricks. This also means that she might delay using her desolid powers until the last minute even in a highly dangerous situation.
