Introduction

Vim (Vi IMproved) is a powerful an enhanced version of the UNIX program "Vi". The commands are entered through the keyboard, but there is also a GUI version. Vim is very configurable. If you are new to Vim don't just start it to try it out. Start "vimtutor" instead to learn more about Vim. Vim is one of the programs where it really pays off to read the manual! More on Vim in 6kb.

Resources

The main webpage for vim resources is: http://vim.sf.net. Here you can download Vim for a number of platforms. There is also a growing number of tips, scripts and plugins for Vim that you can find here.

If you are looking for printable manuals, books etc..., look here: http://vimdoc.sf.net

Screenshot

Here are two examples of how Vim looks with the Project plugin when I edit Ada95 source code. Note that the colours are customisable so this is how I prefer it :-). Screenshot of GTK+ Gui version of Vim. Screenshot of Vim running in a rxvt.
