As I went for my counter-attack, attempting to end the fight quickly, I was suddenly overwhelmed by such outrage and hatred as I have not felt since the first War. One moment I was me, and the next moment I was a Malakite. In my hand was a sword that had appeared out of nothing, and in front of me the Balseraph was dust.
There was no warning, no sign. The change happened instantly, and I could not have resisted it even if I had felt it coming. It was unmistakably the touch of God itself, the power was absolutely immense. I could feel Oath-Chains snap into place around my chest(1), but as the visual records have shown, the Chains were not visible. There were only two chains, much like it was back when the first Malakim came into being.
From that moment on and until the attackers fled, I was for all intents and purposes a Malakite. I did not know any other identity at all. Acting in accordance with my nature at the time, and my Oaths, I had every intention of sacrificing myself to run Beleth through with my blade. Had you not called me back, I would have gone ahead with my charge.
After Gabriel chased Nightmares off, she picked me up and whirled me around, laughing somehting about "Coal within the ash". At that moment I started to remember who and what I really was, but the Oath-chains did not go away until you led me up the Gauntlet and we crossed over into the Realm. They vaporized together with those feathered wings. The visible change to my real wings seems to remain.
I have kept the blade that was given to me at the moment of intervention. It is a little-known and little-used variant of the Flaming Sword relics, only with the blade made of highly concentrated Heavenly Light instead of fire. It also acts as a powerful Talisman for swordsmanship. This particular blade is named "Baara Urishamayin" (Purging Light of Heaven), and was the Morningstar's personal blade in the years just before Eden and the Rebellion.
If Your Ladyship requires more details, please let me know.
Your humble Citizen,
Liriel of The Free Voice.
(1) I speak of this with such confidence, because I had the Malakite
resonance in my years serving the Prince of Fate.
