The design goals state that the parties must be able to negotiate about the type of integrity check used. They must also be able to turn integrity checks on and off. This functionality is similar to the functionality in the encryption option. The integrity sub-option codes is therefore the same as for the encryption option.
The option code for the data integrity option is labeled INTEGRITY, it must be assigned a value from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.
